Birkbeck labs on the BBC

The new labs at Birkbeck served as a backdrop for important figures in TV science, including Sir David Attenborough, Professor Colin Blakemore and Lord Robert Winston to discuss the rich heritage of science TV in the UK.

Narrated by Robert Webb, Mad and Bad: 60 Years of Science on TV, examines popular science programmes including Horizon and Tomorrow's World, science fiction (such as Doctor Who, Blake's 7 and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), to find out how TV has reflected - or led - our collective image of science and the scientist.

Mad and Bad: 60 Years of Science on TV was originally shown on BBC Four on Wednesday 15 December. It is available to view on BBC iPlayer until Wednesday 22 December.
