A new Birkbeck website designed to help first-year undergraduate students get the best possible start to their course has now been launched.
The website, called Get Ahead: Stay Ahead, is part of the My Birkbeck website and gives students the opportunity to access a range of free online interactive information and activities. Using interactive software designed by the University of Nottingham, the site contains learning objects that students can work through before they start their course and during their studies.
Development of the site is ongoing with plans to increase the number of learning objects and also include more audio/visual materials. Visit the website at
The Get Ahead: Stay Ahead website complements the series of Get Ahead workshops to be held this year between 27 June and 2 July for all undergraduate applicants and enrolled students.
The programme of workshops, which successfully attracted over 400 participants in 2010, covers students’ expectations and concerns, helps them prepare for the first year of their degree and find out what support services are available.
